The issues of sickness, suffering, and death have engaged human thought from time immemorial. There is no single society that can avoid them. "Suffering, Illness, and Death in Sub-Saharan Africa" is a critical reflection of this experience within the scope of sub-Saharan Africa. Given that Inculturation and liberation are concepts that guide the dialogue on the challenges and opportunities of African Christianity; the book explores the many forms that suffering has taken in contemporary Africa, identifies their root causes, and suggests remedial strategies drawn from both indigenous traditions and Christian theology. Motivated by the message of hope expressed by the African Synod, the book dares to take a stand not to let suffering be the final destination for the African people but vividness of life. The exploration of suffering, illness, and death in this book gives the most engaging view of recurrent issues of life and resilience in the African context.
