About Us

The Focolare Movement has prioritized inculturation in Africa since 1992. A "Centre of Inculturation" was established in Kenya between 1995 and 1998 to coordinate Summer Schools and serve as a resource hub for inculturation in various African countries.

Our History

The idea for the project came from Chiara Lubich during her visit to Kenya in 1992. She discussed with Msgr. Faccani about sharing the Gospel in different cultures, noting the disconnect felt by many Africans in large churches. Lubich believed that the Spirituality of Unity of the Focolare Movement could help integrate cultures. She promoted mutual cultural exchange and established "Schools of Inculturation" for members and supporters.

Our Vision

To build a more united world through dialogue with African cultural values and other cultures following the inspiration of Jesusโ€™s Prayer for universal fraternity, โ€œUt Omnes Unum Sintโ€ โ€“ โ€œThat All May Be One.โ€ Jn. 17:21.
